Mitsubishi Delicas, RVRs, Pajero Minis; Mazda Bongos; Toyota Granvias - there are a lot of not-too-familiar car models on Manila roads nowadays.
Filipinos have really jumped on the imports trend. These cars are Japanese second-hand units brought in by traders.
Because they are right-hand drive cars, they have to be modified to be considered street-legal here in the Philippines. I asked a friend of mine, who supervises conversion of these vehicles on a large-scale basis, about their reliability. According to him, there is nothing to worry about since, during the modification process, they "make no shortcuts" - whatever that means.
